Workshop «Post-Editing»

Heidelberg // 29 June 2018

Where // Institute for Translation and Interpreting of Heidelberg University
Language // German Level // Beginner

In collaboration with the BDÜ LV Baden-Württemberg e.V., the Institute of Translation and Interpreting of Heidelberg University organised an introductory day for young professionals and students of the university.

The fascinating and varied programme included talks on the localisation of video games, real-time subtitling, internal corporate translation processes and my own session on post-editing.

Living up to the excellent reputation of the faculty, my workshop group was keen to learn, attentive, and well-prepared.

How did it go?

«At first glance, you might think that post-editing is just the same as regular proofreading. Sara Grizzo proved the opposite in her workshop. She explained the different types of post-editing and aspects to be considered, while giving examples of the errors that occur in the various translation engines. The workshop provides comprehensive information and practical exercises that I would recommend to anyone wishing to learn the basics of post-editing.»
