Annual Conference of the Society for Technical Communication (tekom) 2018

Stuttgart // 15 November 2018
Thursday 15 November 2018
Where // International Congress Center Stuttgart (ICS)
Language // German Level // Advanced

This year I will be returning to the Annual Conference of the Association for Technical Communication (tekom).

«Has post-editing run its course?»: is the title of my talk, which aims to challenge the participants to view the use of machine translation for once from a different angle. We post-editors are usually delighted at good output that requires only few minor adjustments. What irritates us is inconsistent terminology or engines that may generate useful elements but put them in the wrong order. Why don’t we use machine translation as one of many tools with which to improve productivity?

Of the conference itself, I expect to meet interesting people while seeing the faces of existing and hitherto “virtual” contacts, and return home with new ideas and inspiration.

Will you also be there? Then drop me a note and we could meet for a coffee, or take a look at the programme on the tekom conference website. See you soon!

Directions

The International Congress Center Stuttgart (ICS) is near the exhibition grounds and easy to reach by car (A8 and A81 motorways) or S-Bahn suburban train (line S2 and S3).
