2017 was the first time I attended the Annual Conference of the Association for Technical Communication (tekom) – a high-profile event with numerous talks and workshops on various aspects of technical editing such as, among others, writing, mobile documentation, speech technology, terminology, marketing, visual communication.
In my talk, «Post-editing in practice», I outlined the different phases of post-editing along with its corresponding demands based on a fictitious project. Participants were provided with a range of useful tips on how to engage in conscious and competent dialogue with customers before and after a job is awarded, along with various tricks on how to specifically correct and edit the output of an MT engine.
The conference was a thoroughly positive experience, offering me the opportunity to get to know the world of technical editing and establish new contacts with a number of industry players.
