2018 I have returned to the Annual Conference of the Association for Technical Communication (tekom).
«Has post-editing run its course?»: was the title of my talk, which aimed to challenge the participants to view the use of machine translation for once from a different angle. We post-editors are usually delighted at good output that requires only few minor adjustments. What irritates us is inconsistent terminology or engines that may generate useful elements but put them in the wrong order. Why don’t we use machine translation as one of many tools with which to improve productivity?
